Merry Christmas from WANNA – Cavs-Warriors Preview and Prediction

by Greg Rollings – Wannamakeabet Staff Writer

There might not be a better way to spend Christmas Day than with the main event showdown between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. It’s the last three NBA finals participants duking it out on a day where everyone is supposed to be nice to one another.

The defending champion Warriors are a five-point favorite at home in Oakland against LeBron James and company on Monday afternoon. If gambling helps you get by during your precious moments with family, then this one might make matters worse.

The Cavs are only 8-7 against the spread this year on the road, while Steph Curry and the gang are 7-9 at home against the spread. This means those records aren’t worth using for placing your bet. This will also be the first meeting between the teams since Golden State hoisted its second NBA title in three years back in June.

Both teams have played well of late with the Cavs winning six of their last seven and the Warriors are coming off a loss, but won the 11 games prior to losing to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.

SPREAD: Warriors – 5 1/2

MY PICK: Warriors

– Golden State covering is a crap shoot and I’m simply hoping they pull away in the end with three pointers since it was such a brutal area during its loss to Denver. The defending champions combined for 3-27 from behind the arc, which equals an abysmal season low 11% three point percentage.

MONEY LINE: Warriors -220/Cavs +180

MY PICK: Warriors

– If you throw $100 on this game to spice up your Christmas because you a bad boy/girl this year, put it on the Warriors. They simply can’t be as bad as they were in their last game. Cleveland has been good and this is the type of game where it will have a playoff feel, but Golden State is simply better and all its superior talent might be all it needs to pull out the win.
