Monday Morning QB 1/6 – The Playoffs Are Here
Wannamakeabettors,
The regular season of 2024 in the NFL is complete at Wannamakeabet.com. If you made it this far with points still in your account, congratulations on a job well done! As we enter the post season, many leagues are getting their final injections of points this morning. Good luck as we head into the off season.
Invitations are officially out for the 2025 NFL Playoffs League. Entry is free and we’re giving away $100 cash. And don’t forget to get into the January All Sports Cash league. There’s daily action on all sports including College and NFL Football, College and NBA hoops, and Hockey. It’s a great time of year to be a degenerate.
There’s still time to get into the College Bowl Bonanza as we head to the final four this coming weekend and the Championship game on Monday, January 20th. And a reminder that the famous Megabux South League will end on the 20th along with all College Football leagues at the site.
NFL Recap and Quick Initial Playoffs Thoughts:
Saturday, January 11, 2025
(5) Los Angeles Chargers at (4) Houston Texans
Saturday: 4:30 PM ET
Spread: Texans +3
Moneyline: Texans +130
Total: 43.5 (-110/-110)
Everyone wanted to play the Houston Texans in the playoffs and after this past weekend’s action, the prize goes to the Chargers. The opening line was 2.5 and it has quickly gone to 3 in most places. These are two teams moving in the opposite direction over the past month and the Chargers will clearly be the more attractive side and the books will likely be rooting for the Texans here.
(6) Pittsburgh Steelers at (3) Baltimore Ravens
Saturday: 8:00 PM ET
Spread: Ravens -8.5
Moneyline: Ravens -470
Total: 45.5 (-110/-110)
The Steelers lost but covered the 2.5 point spread against Cincy on Saturday and come limping into this year’s playoffs having lost their last four. Their defense is not what we’re used to seeing and the offense struggles to protect Wilson and make consistent plays down field. Baltimore opened as the heaviest favorite (8.5) of the coming weekend and will likely advance. But will they cover the number? If you think so you should probably bet it now. If you like the Steelers, you will likely get a better number in the coming days.
(7) Denver Broncos at (2) Buffalo Bills
Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
Spread: Bills -7.5
Moneyline: Bills -410
Total: 47.5 (-115/-105)
Denver opened as a 7.5 point dog and comes in as the darling of this year’s playoffs with the rookie QB in Bo Nix and a top ranked defense. This is a true David / Goliath affair and Buffalo will likely take money and push this line higher and certainly get a ton of teaser attention by the WANNA members. Will this Denver defense be able to disrupt Josh Allen enough to pull off the upset? It seems unlikely but crazier things have happened.
(7) Green Bay Packers at (2) Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, 4:30 PM ET
Spread: Eagles -3.5
Moneyline: Eagles -175
Total: 46.5 (-102/-118)
The big question in this game is… “Is Jalen Hurts healthy”? This will be his first start since the latest concussion and it will have been 20 days when the game starts. What nobody will question is the strength of the Philly defense and they should be able to disrupt this Packer offense, which against great offenses like the Lions did not look good at all. But the Packer defense has been stellar and if Siriani tries to get cute in this game and they can figure out how to slow down Saquan and make Jalen beat them with his arm, they may be a live dog here to cover this number and perhaps steal it.
(6) Washington Commanders at (3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday 8:00 p.m. ET
Spread: Buccaneers -3
Moneyline: Buccaneers -162
Total: 50.5 (-110/-110)
Our second rookie quarterback of the weekend goes down to Tampa to take on Baker and company and this is the highest total of the upcoming weekend. Lattimore versus Evans is a matchup we’re all familiar with and we’re sure to see a ton of blitz packages from Todd Bowles on the rookie QB. This is also a repeat of the first game of the year which the Bucs won 37-20. Who’s got more magic, Baker or Jaden? Either way, we got ourselves a good game Sunday night.
(5) Minnesota Vikings at (4) Los Angeles Rams
Monday at 8:00 p.m. ET
Spread: Rams +2.5
Moneyline: Rams +110
Total: 47.5 (-110/-110)
Rematch of an earlier game this season which the Rams won 30-20 in a bit of a trap game schedule wise. The Vikes fell all the way to the 5 seed after losing badly to the Lions yesterday and we have a Rams team this time that has been struggling to generate offense over the past month. When Sam Darnold has time to throw he’s deadly, and when he doesn’t… well we saw what happens when he has to hold the ball more than 3 seconds yesterday, and it was really ugly. The poor performance by the Vikes may provide a bit of value with this number.
Good luck with your selections and hope to see you all in Playoff League.
Jack and Josh!
