Podcast Picks

The latest episode of the podcast is live and the consensus picks are HOT.  Last week we went 5-0.  That brings the season record to 24-16 (60%). Here’s who we have our eye on this Sunday.

  • Cleveland Browns -9 over Arizona Cardinals
    • The struggling Cardinals may be hard pressed to score in this game as the league’s number #2 ranked defense in the league takes the field at home against a rookie quarterback (Clayton Tune) who has never taken a snap and doesn’t have a running back to boot.  And ice the cake with the return of Deshaun Watson.  This isn’t complicated.  It’s a beating.
  • Dallas Cowboys +3 over Philadelphia Eagles
    • Depsite the fact that Dak hasn’t won a big game since last year’s playoff win against the Bucs on the road, we think he’s ready for this one.   When the Eagles met a similar defense against the Jets, they really struggled.  Throw in the fact that Hurts mobility may be a bit sus and we have a really nice setup for the Cowboys here, who play very well in a positive game state if they have the lead and can also come back with a stable of offensive weapons.  This will be a close one but we think getting 3 is just enough for the Boys to get the cover here.
  • Las Vegas Raiders -1 over New York Giants
    • This is a psychology edge handicap more than anything.  A fresh face in the locker room in new head coach Antonio Pierce is exactly what the team needs as they move on from fired coach McDaniels.  His presence was toxic and his coaching and decision making was poor.  New coach.  New attitude.  And you get to play the New York Giants, whose offense ranks dead last in the league.  Daniel Jones returns, and that’s a downgrade from Tyrell Pryor.  Raiders win.
  • Cincinnati Bengals – 1 over Buffalo Bills
    • Ready for a repeat performance of last year’s playoffs?  So are we.  And for the Bills… wanting revenge isn’t the same as getting it.  There’s no Damar Hamlin karma on this field, it’s more like a curse.  These two teams seem to be going in different directions right now.  Buffalo has the over rated defense due to key injuries and Cincy is finally getting their calf under them so we’ve got a great buy low / sell high option on the table for both sides.  Cincy wins as the window continues to close on these Bills.  Here’s an even deeper dive on this game from analyst Thomas Quaynor.
  • New York Jets +3.5 over LA Chargers
    • A Monday night home dog is the final ticket to punch on this week’s card.  And although this is a slight roll of the dice on Zach playing well, it’s a good matchup for the Jets.  They don’t have to face a top rated defense with their sub par offense.  And as for the Charger offense, they haven’t really been at full potency since Mike Williams got hurt and now Josh Palmer joins the cluster injury on the WR corps.  Flip a coin on who gets the outright win here but whomever it is, it won’t be by more than a field goal.

Good luck with your selections!

Jack and Josh
