Alabama (-7) at Tennessee.
This is easily the game of the week if not year the year in college. Tennessee has had its most hyped season in years. Last week Alabama struggled without QB Bryce Young but still was able to beat Texas A&M. Tennessee rolled all over LSU in Baton Rouge 40-13. Hendon Hooker has had a stellar year with the Vols but Bryce Young will be back and this Alabama is the best team Tennessee will have seen. Alabama’s defense is stout. Pass efficiency D they are 5th, YPP they are 2nd and YPG they are 2nd. They also have the 9th ranked special teams in the country. Alabama beat Tennessee last year 52-24 and has beaten the Vols 15 in a row.
Prediction
Alabama is on the road here but I will be making a play on this game and will buy a half point to get the line to -7. I just see way to much defense for Alabama in this one to force Hooker into mistakes. Alabama wins their 16th straight over Tennessee and covers. Alabama-7
Penn State +7 at Michigan
This is the next best game of the weekend and Michigan is favored at home by 7. Michigan has an outstanding running back in Blake Coram who has 735 yards and 11 TD this season. There defense is 4th in YPP and 21st in YPG. They also own the special teams edge in this game. The only knock on Michigan is there strength of schedule is at 94th in the country and they played some weak teams early.
Penn State has a solid running game as well led by Nick Singleton and his 454 yards and 5 TD’s. Penn State struggled last week with Northwestern only winning 17-7. Penn State has played the better schedule and last week they probably had eyes on this game. Last season Michigan trailed 17-14 and won the game with just over 3 minutes left.
Prediction:
The spread of 7 is a little high in my eyes and that’s why I am making a play on taking Penn State and the points. Defense will rule and the outcome may be decided on special teams but I will side with the underdog here. Penn State +7
