The 2024 Podcast season is off and running as hosts Jack and Cello preview each week and do a recap. Click here to listen to this week’s Podcast. The pod is available on all listening platforms including Spotify, Apple, and Amazon. As for our picks, last week we lost another game by a 1/2 point (Houston). That means one hole point and a toe (Likely) has kept us from a 70% record. Season recrod is 4-6 (40%). Indy Colts -1 over Chicago Bears.
The 0-2 Colts have put up almost as much offense as the Saints in the first two weeks and yet they don’t have anything to show for it besides two losses. Today’s the day they get their first win against a Bears team that’s good, but still figuring out how to get the W with a rookie QB when it matters most in the 4th quarter.
Minnesota Vikings +1.5 over Houston Texans
Stroud struggles on the road and even though this season is young, the Viking defense has looked great. If Darnold can take care of the ball here the Vikings get another high quality win like they got against the 49ers last week.
Tennessee Titans – 2 over Green Bay Packers
The Titans could easily be 2-0 were it not for some bone headed plays by Will Levis. So we’re betting that he regresses to the mean for the positive in this one as the 0-2 Titans get their first win. Jordan Love doesn’t seem likely, especially with the Vikings up next week. And there’s the added incentive of the Titans showing everyone they were correct in kicking Malik Willis to the curb. Titans get their first win.
Detroit Lions -2.5 over Arizona Cardinals
The Lions ran up and down the field last week against a much better defense than this (Tampa) but still couldn’t get the ball in the end zone. So we have added value this week in Detroit and also added value in Arizona, who has a horrific defense, because they were able to get the win against the Rams. We just can’t see how the Cards are going to be able to slow down this powerhouse offense.
LA Rams +6.5 over SF 49ers.
The 49ers are hard to beat when they have all the offensive pieces in place, but this week they have 3 out of 5 (CMC, Debo, Kittle) on the bench. That will make it especially easy for McVey to scheme against them this. This is just too much wood to chop in a division road game for the 49ers and despite the historical dominance in this matchup, they’ll be lucky to get out of LA with a win this week.
