Padres / Phillies Game 3 Prediction

We were able to get back in the win column with the Astros taking care of business last night. We now head to Philly where the series is tied 1-1 thanks to an offense of explosion by the Padres in Game 2 scoring 8 runs.

The Padres will send out Joe Musgrove who has been pitching some of his best ball down the stretch. He has appeared twice in this postseason going 13 innings allowing 2 runs and striking out 13 batters. Ranger Suarez will take the mound for the Phillies. He has made one appearance this postseason going 3 innings allowing 1 run striking out 5 but also allowing 5 walks. He will need to cut down on those walks today against this Padres lineup.

Prediction

This series has been a tough handicap and this game is no different. When in doubt I like to go with the better starting pitcher and for this game that is Joe Musgrove. This Phillies team is much better against lefties than they are against right-handed pitching. I will be holding my breath when Harper comes up to the plate though because he is heating up this postseason and will have some extra juice in front of the home crowd. I think this game may end up being on the lower scoring side but to make the handicap easier I will remove the bullpen and take the Padres First 5 innings -120 and ride the hot hand with Musgrove.
