Conference play has officially started and every weekend for the next two months will be chock full of great games. I have a solid feel for each conference and so here are my college football predictions for this weekend, including the featured game of Ohio State Buckeyes hosting the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday night in the horseshoe in Columbus.

UCF -3.5 – Cincinnati
I like UCF anytime they are less than a touchdown. Cincy is getting better but much better athletes on the other side of the ball. Cincy can’t really stop the run and they don’t have the speed to keep up with UCF. Lay the small number here.
Boston College +5 @ Louisville
These teams are about equal so I’ll take the 5 here as I don’t quite understand how Louisville is laying this many points to a quality opponent. Is it their name brand equity? This isn’t Western Kentucky it’s Boston College.
North Carolina – Ga. Tech Under 48.5
Tech hasn’t covered yet this year. Heartbreaker last week for UNC but they showed they care capable of playing with the best last week. UNC offense will struggle and Tech plays solid D as well. Play under.
Army +3 over Tulane
What has Army done to warrant a bad sentiment by Vegas? Tulane coached against the option for 17 years. Army has a better defense and a better coach. But perhaps the QB health has a bit to do with this line. Play Army +3.
Pittsburgh / Duke Under 47.5
Any chance to bet a Duke or Pitt under, take it. Duke has a great D and has a running quarterback and Pitt can trench it out with anyone like they did with Penn State. Burn and turn this clock all day long for field position and the score stays low.
Baylor +1.5 @ Kansas State
Baylor is among the best of the big 12 and KState won’t change this. Young team so people will hang around and KState doesn’t have much of anything and Baylor will win this game.
Rutgers +12.5 over Maryland
Rutgers showed Chris Ashley (the coach) the door after getting blown out by Michigan. Now what? Well the O line can’t really block anyone but I’m on Rutgers here. Maryland has a hurt QB and the running back got a DUI this week. I think Rutgers sucks but they can stop the run. The Maryland QB is god awful he throws more picks than he does TDs and in general, with the exception of the Cuse win, they have looked bad every week.
Ok State / Texas Tech under 62.5
I think I’m liking the under here. TTech plays very slow. They are trying to run the ball and they don’t really have a run offense. On the other side of the ball Hubbard for Ok. State could win the Heisman and they love to run. I just don’t think this number gets to 63 with these two plodders.
Kent State / Wisconsin over 59
I like the over here. Scon is gonna run up the score and score at will but Kent State can score also, on almost anyone I think. So if they just get 14 and Wisky does what they do this goes soaring over to the tune of, like, 70, no 59.
Troy / Missouri over 66.5
Troy throws the ball more than anyone in the country and they give up 500 yards per game in the air. This is a shootout prone team which sets up for disaster every week. Missouri has a lot to prove on offense and this is the perfect spot to do it, they’ll score at will here. Play over here.
Washington -15.5 @ Stanford
Stanford is just going the wrong direction and it’s hard to believe but it’s true. Just look at this line it’s embarrassing for the Cardinal to be getting more than two TDs at home from the conference best but it does mean something, they are terrible. Washington gets the win here and it likely gets ugly.
Iowa +3.5 at Michigan
Michigan can’t stop the run and they’re forced to throw every down because they can’t run themselves. Iowa is going to win this game by keeping it on the ground. It’s a perfect matchup for Iowa and Kirk Ferentz. Everything Michigan doesn’t do well is Iowa’s strength. They likely get the outright win.
Minnesota -14 over Illinois
The Golden Gophers have talent across the board and are the most improved team in the big 10 this year. Illinois meanwhile, is arguably the worst team in the conference not named Rutgers. I think Minny laying less than two TDs will get it done on Saturday. Two teams going the opposite direction.
Gerogia @ Tennessee Under 52
Tennessee likely won’t score in this game. Horrible offense, uncreative and totally predictable. Georgia controls the clock. Run, run, run and maybe a few passes that are screens. Can’t imagine this game goes over any total, much less 52.
Air Force -3.5 @ Navy
I know this is supposed to be close but Air Force is by far the best service academy this year and tomorrow will be extra motivation to prove that to the others, starting with Navy. They do everything well and won’t have a problem taking down the water boys.
Michigan State +20 @ Ohio State
Michigan State has, arguably, the best defense in the country against the run and the Buckeyes are a run based offense. Lots of close game history between these two. Ohio State gets the win but it will be much closer than than people think. I love Sparty +20 here.
