NFL Week 12 Predictions

NFL Week 12 Predictions.  2-5 last week, ouch.  But I own it.   Season record in the blog now stands at 22-22-1 and that includes splitting out on Thanksgiving Day going 1-1.  Let’s get back to our winning ways, shall we?  Here’s who I have my eye on this Sunday.

Atlanta + 3 over Raiders – Huge letdown spot here for the Raiders.  Raiders played their asses off against the Chiefs on Sunday night and left it all out on the field.  Now they have to get on a plane and go to Atlanta?  How could they possibly get up for. a meaningless game across the country against a non-division team.   Matty Ice had a bad day last week coming off the bye, which I’m going to forgive him for. And, don’t forget the Saints have the best defense in the NFL over the past month,  and that includes the Steelers!  When I saw this line at 2.5 I was a bit reluctant but now that I see the 3 I’m locked in.

Colts – 3 over Tennessee – I’m not taking the bait on the Titans this week.  Last week, I loved them in Baltimore and they played up and got the job done in overtime like they typically do when Henry runs wild.  They earned the win and revealed, among other things, that the Ravens have surprising problems on defense.  This week, the Titans are going up against a much better defense in the Colts (#1) and the Titans defense will not be able to get a pass rush on Rivers or stop this offense.  The Titans have some real injuries. (AJ Brown, Adoree Jackson) and the Colts don’t.   Unlike the Ravens sputtering offense, the Colts showed us in the Packer game that a poor defense can get taken to the cleaners.  And even though we all know Rivers sucks.  He could kill me in this game if he lays an egg but if he takes care of the ball they win by 10.

Buffalo / Chargers over 52.5

The Buffalo defense is just not what it was last year and it doesn’t feel like the market understands this or has adjusted yet.   No matter what ranking system you use these teams are both in the bottom half of the league and the Chargers have shown us that they can keep scoring with almost anyone in the league.  Seems like a perfect setup for a shootout, especially with the Bills coming off a bye.

Tampa Bay +3.5 over Kansas City

That Chiefs defensive effort against the Raiders was one of the worst performances I’ve seen this year.  I don’t see them getting better as we can’t chalk it up to injuries.  The Bucs receivers are better and faster than the Raiders and they have Tom Brady throwing to them.   Brady has also played well against Andy Reid coached teams for most of his career.   Many people are making a strong case for this over and I like that angle but I see this one coming down to the last possession and having that hook on the three should be exactly enough to get me the cover here.
