NFL Mid-Week 8 Injury Report: Lamar Watch, Eagles Trouble and a Battered Battle of L.A.
WANNA Wednesday update | October 28, 2026 | Games October 29–November 2 | All kickoff times Eastern
Week 8 has some injury reports that look more like a staff directory for the training room. Baltimore is waiting on its franchise quarterback. Philadelphia has problems stacked on top of problems. And the Chargers might need to introduce Justin Herbert (QB) to another protection combination before Sunday.
Here are the five biggest stories, followed by every matchup in kickoff order and what the injuries could mean for your WANNA picks.
Status note: This report uses the October 28 injury snapshot, supplemented by team reporting and depth charts. Questionable means monitor, not out. Sunday and Monday game statuses are still developing. IR return estimates and return-to-practice designations do not confirm activation. Matchup implications below are WANNA analysis, not confirmed lineup decisions.
Five Biggest Injury Headlines
- Lamar Jackson (QB) is the biggest swing player on the board. His ankle remains the central question for Baltimore at Buffalo. He practiced Wednesday, but participation alone does not establish that he will play—or have his usual mobility. Tyler Huntley (QB) is the alternative.
- Philadelphia’s offensive injury pileup keeps growing. Jalen Hurts (QB) remains on IR, Lane Johnson (OT) is out, and Saquon Barkley (RB), DeVonta Smith (WR), Dontayvion Wicks (WR) and Dameon Pierce (RB) are questionable. Tanner McKee (QB) could have very little margin for error at Washington.
- The Chargers’ problems go well beyond one missing tackle. Rashawn Slater (OT) and multiple interior linemen are on IR, Joe Alt (OT) is questionable, and Ladd McConkey (WR) is in concussion protocol. Across the field, the Rams have major defensive losses of their own.
- Carolina enters Thursday short on blockers, corners and pass rush. Four players are officially ruled out, adding to existing reserve absences. Green Bay has its own injury concerns, but Carolina’s depth is the immediate alarm bell.
- Kansas City–Denver could change dramatically with the final report. Rashee Rice (WR) and Jaylon Moore (OT) are questionable for Kansas City. Denver is monitoring Pat Surtain (CB), Talanoa Hufanga (S), Zach Allen (DT) and Jaylen Waddle (WR). That is a lot of matchup leverage sitting beside a question mark.
Thursday, October 29
Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers — 8:15 p.m.
Panthers — Key injuries: Damien Lewis (OG, knee), Jaelan Phillips (LB/edge, hamstring), Akayleb Evans (CB, triceps/knee) and Torricelli Simpkins (OG, ankle) are officially out. Taylor Moton (OT), Jaycee Horn (CB), Mike Jackson (CB), Xavier Legette (WR) and Nic Scourton (LB/edge) remain on IR. Ikem Ekwonu (OT) is listed PUP-R in the supplied snapshot.
Also banged up: Bobby Brown (DT, hand) is questionable. The good news: Bryce Young (QB, knee) and Jalen Coker (WR, shoulder) have no game designation on Carolina’s final report.
Packers — Key injuries: The snapshot lists Sean Rhyan (C, ankle), Zaire Franklin (LB, shin) and Travis Glover (OG, knee) out. Jayden Reed (WR), Jacob Monk (OG), Edgerrin Cooper (LB) and Javon Hargrave (DT) are on IR. Micah Parsons (LB/edge) remains listed PUP-R.
Also banged up: Matthew Golden (WR, shoulder/foot), Devonte Wyatt (DT, ankle), Brenton Cox (LB/edge, quadriceps) and Anthony Campbell (DT, ankle). Golden did not participate Monday or Tuesday; Wyatt improved to limited Tuesday. Green Bay’s final designations were not populated on the team page checked for this update.
Replacement/depth alert: Carolina lists Rasheed Walker (LT) and Monroe Freeling (RT) at tackle, with Corey Bullock (OG) behind Lewis (OG). Chau Smith-Wade (CB) is next behind Evans (CB), and Princely Umanmielen (LB/edge) behind Phillips (LB/edge). Carolina reports only seven healthy offensive linemen and two healthy cornerbacks on its 53-man roster before potential transactions.
WANNA takeaway: Green Bay’s passing matchup gets more attractive against Carolina’s depleted corners, especially if Golden (WR) plays. But the Packers’ defensive injuries leave Carolina a possible path through the running game. The strongest injury angle is pressure on Carolina’s protection and coverage—not an automatic ticket to a blowout.
Sunday, November 1 — Early Games
Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills — 1 p.m.
Ravens — Key injuries: Lamar Jackson (QB, ankle) is questionable in the snapshot. Vega Ioane (OG, knee/MCL) is doubtful; the team depth chart places him at guard despite the file’s center label. Tavius Robinson (LB/edge, pectoral) is on IR.
Also banged up: Roquan Smith (LB, knee), Jaylinn Hawkins (S, knee) and Broderick Washington (DT, ankle). Wednesday’s team update reported Jackson (QB) practicing, while Smith (LB), Hawkins (S) and Ioane (OG) were not spotted at the start. That is an early observation, not a final practice designation.
Bills — Key injuries: DJ Moore (WR, shoulder/AC joint) and Ed Oliver (DT, knee) are questionable. C.J. Gardner-Johnson (S) is listed suspended. Jordan Hancock (CB) is on IR; Dorian Strong (CB) is on NFI-R.
Replacement/depth alert: Tyler Huntley (QB) is Baltimore’s listed backup, with Emery Jones (OG) behind Ioane (OG). Huntley (QB) can preserve some quarterback movement, but Jackson’s (QB) combination of explosive running and passing is a substantial loss if unavailable.
WANNA takeaway: This is the week’s clearest wait-for-the-quarterback game. Jackson’s (QB) availability and movement affect Baltimore’s scoring ceiling; Oliver’s (DT) availability affects Buffalo’s ability to hold up against the run. A limited Jackson (QB) belongs in a different conversation from a fully mobile one.
Tennessee Titans at Cincinnati Bengals — 1 p.m.
Titans — Key injuries: Calvin Ridley (WR, hip), Carnell Tate (WR, shoulder) and Tyjae Spears (RB, knee) are questionable. Jackson Slater (OG, foot) remains on IR.
Also banged up: Tommy Townsend (P, knee), which matters if this becomes a field-position game.
Bengals — Key injuries: Kyle Dugger (S, quadriceps) is out in the snapshot. Andrei Iosivas (WR, thumb), Erick All (TE, ACL) and Tanner Hudson (TE, pectoral) are on IR.
Replacement/depth alert: Tennessee’s concern is the combined loss of receiver options and backfield flexibility. Cincinnati’s reserve pass-catching depth is reduced, but the file does not list its principal outside receivers as injured.
WANNA takeaway: Dugger’s (S) absence creates a potential opening for Tennessee’s passing game—if its receivers are available to use it. Multiple Titans skill-position absences would make their offense easier to squeeze and lower confidence in their scoring output.
Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys — 1 p.m.
Cardinals — Key injuries: Paris Johnson (OT, biceps), Will Johnson (CB, neck), Trey Benson (RB, knee) and Chase Bisontis (OG, MCL) are on IR. Jeremiyah Love (RB, ankle), Max Melton (CB, knee), Walter Nolen (DT, ankle) and Andrew Wingard (S, knee) are questionable.
Also banged up: Jon Gaines (OG/C, knee) and Carson Beck (QB, back). James Conner (RB) is listed IR-R; Tip Reiman (TE) is PUP-R. Neither designation guarantees a return Sunday.
Cowboys — Key injuries: Jalen Thompson (S, hamstring) and Jonathan Bullard (DT, calf) are on IR. KaVontae Turpin (WR, ribs), Dee Winters (LB, calf) and Drew Shelton (OT, hamstring) are questionable.
Replacement/depth alert: Arizona’s current chart lists Jayden Williams (LT), with Jedrick Wills (OT) behind him, and Tyler Allgeier (RB) ahead of Love (RB). Jacoby Brissett (QB) is the listed starter; Beck’s (QB) injury is a depth concern, not evidence of a starting-quarterback change.
WANNA takeaway: Arizona’s combination of line losses and uncertain defensive backs is more consequential than its reserve-quarterback listing. Dallas gains a cleaner offensive matchup if Melton (CB) and Wingard (S) cannot play. Do not count Conner (RB) as reinforcements until activation is confirmed.
Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions — 1 p.m.
Vikings — Key injuries: Aaron Jones (RB, knee) is questionable. Donovan Jackson (OG, meniscus), Josh Oliver (TE, biceps) and Nick Samac (C, knee) are on IR.
Lions — Key injuries: Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR, ankle) is questionable. Isiah Pacheco (RB, back), Devin White (LB, forearm), Avonte Maddox (S, foot) and Thomas Harper (S, ankle) are on IR. Kerby Joseph (S, knee) is listed PUP-R.
Also banged up: Ennis Rakestraw (CB, ankle) is questionable for Detroit.
Replacement/depth alert: Minnesota’s missing guard and blocking tight end make Jones’s (RB) status part of a broader rushing-efficiency concern. Detroit’s safety absences create stress on the back end, while losing St. Brown (WR) would remove a central chain-moving option.
WANNA takeaway: St. Brown (WR) is the first check for Detroit’s offensive outlook; Joseph’s (S) activation is a separate check for its defense. There are plausible scoring opportunities against Detroit’s secondary, but Minnesota’s own blocking losses complicate the matchup.
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars — 1 p.m.
Colts — Key injuries: Alec Pierce (WR, heel), Cam Taylor-Britt (CB, groin), Arden Key (DE, hamstring) and Micheal Clemons (DE, toe) are on IR. Sauce Gardner (CB, calf) and Tyler Warren (TE, groin) are questionable.
Also banged up: Justin Walley (CB, knee), CJ Allen (LB, ankle), Bryce Boettcher (LB, groin) and Anthony Gould (WR, concussion).
Jaguars — Key injuries: Anton Harrison (OT, knee) and Caleb Ransaw (S, knee) are on IR. Montaric Brown (CB, hamstring), Jaylon Jones (CB, hamstring) and Antonio Johnson (S, ankle) are questionable. Patrick Mekari (OG, back) is listed IR-R.
Replacement/depth alert: Both secondaries have potential depth problems. Indianapolis also has fewer edge options to exploit Jacksonville’s missing tackle. Warren’s (TE) availability matters more with Pierce (WR) already unavailable.
WANNA takeaway: Gardner (CB) is the biggest individual defensive check. If both teams remain short in coverage, passing efficiency could improve—but an over lean still needs the protection and receiving options to cooperate.
Las Vegas Raiders at New York Jets — 1 p.m.
Raiders — Key injuries: Jack Bech (WR, forearm) is listed IR-R. Justin Pickett (OG) and Keyron Crawford (LB, ankle) are on IR. Patrick Johnson (LB, neck) is questionable.
Jets — Key injuries: Breece Hall (RB, quadriceps), Braelon Allen (RB, ankle) and Kene Nwangwu (RB, knee) are all questionable. Joseph Ossai (DE, ankle) and T’Vondre Sweat (DT, knee) are doubtful. David Onyemata (DT, groin) is on IR.
Also banged up: David Bailey (DE, groin), Dylan Parham (OG, knee) and Max Mitchell (OT, concussion).
Replacement/depth alert: The Jets cannot assume the usual next running back is healthy: all three listed backs have availability concerns. Their defensive front also risks losing multiple rotation pieces simultaneously.
WANNA takeaway: The Raiders have the cleaner injury picture in the supplied report. New York’s combination of backfield uncertainty, blocking concerns and defensive-front losses is more meaningful than any one name. Confirm the Jets’ available running backs before trusting their offensive floor.
Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers — 1 p.m.
Browns — Key injuries: Tytus Howard (OT, concussion) and Jared Verse (DE, knee) are questionable. Teven Jenkins (OG, back) and Alex Wright (DE, Achilles) are on IR. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (LB, neck) remains listed PUP-R.
Also banged up: Mike Hall (DT, ankle) and Myles Harden (CB, hamstring).
Steelers — Key injuries: Michael Pittman (WR, foot) and Roman Wilson (WR, finger) are on IR. Derrick Harmon (DT, foot), Sebastian Joseph-Day (DT, triceps) and Logan Lee (DT) are also on IR.
Also banged up: Brandin Echols (CB, hamstring) and Ben Skowronek (WR, calf).
Replacement/depth alert: Cleveland’s tackle concern could undermine its passing game; Pittsburgh’s defensive-tackle losses could make the ground game a more inviting route. Pittsburgh is also short of receiving depth.
WANNA takeaway: The trench injuries pull in opposite directions. Howard (OT) clearing protocol would improve Cleveland’s options, while Verse’s (DE) status changes its pressure outlook. Receiver losses alone are not enough to make an automatic under call.
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers — 1 p.m.
Falcons — Key injuries: Jalon Walker (LB/edge, ACL) is on IR and James Pearce (LB/edge) is suspended. Michael Jerrell (OT, biceps) is on IR; Storm Norton (OT, foot) is listed PUP-R. Brian Robinson (RB, hamstring) is questionable.
Also banged up: Divine Deablo (LB, forearm), Billy Bowman (S, hamstring), Avieon Terrell (CB, back) and Olamide Zaccheaus (WR, shoulder). Cameron Williams (OT) is listed IR-R.
Buccaneers — Key injuries: Emeka Egbuka (WR, concussion), Luke Goedeke (OT, calf) and Antoine Winfield (S, ribs) are questionable. Jalen McMillan (WR, PCL) and Christian Rozeboom (LB, finger) are on IR.
Replacement/depth alert: Atlanta’s edge absences could soften the impact of Tampa Bay’s tackle concern. Egbuka’s (WR) status carries extra weight with McMillan (WR) already unavailable.
WANNA takeaway: Watch Egbuka (WR) for Tampa Bay’s passing ceiling and Winfield (S) for Atlanta’s opportunities. The matchup hinges on whether the Falcons can generate pressure with their depleted edge group.
Sunday, November 1 — Late Games
Los Angeles Chargers at Los Angeles Rams — 4:05 p.m.
Chargers — Key injuries: Rashawn Slater (OT, ankle), Tyler Biadasz (C, knee), Trevor Penning (OG, concussion) and Trey Pipkins (OG, knee) are on IR. Joe Alt (OT, neck), Kayode Awosika (OG, lower leg) and Ladd McConkey (WR, concussion) are questionable. Derwin James (S, hamstring) is doubtful.
Also banged up: Tre’ Harris (WR, hamstring), Brenen Thompson (WR, quadriceps), Donte Jackson (CB, hamstring), Deane Leonard (CB, concussion), Rodney Shelley (CB, hamstring) and Bud Dupree (LB/edge, neck). David Njoku (TE) remains listed on IR despite a return estimate this week.
Rams — Key injuries: Davante Adams (WR, hamstring), Myles Garrett (LB/edge, knee), Kobie Turner (DT, groin), Poona Ford (DT, triceps) and Terrance Ferguson (TE, ankle) are on IR. Trent McDuffie (CB, groin) and Nate Landman (LB, concussion) are questionable.
Replacement/depth alert: The Chargers list Travis Burke (LT), Jake Slaughter (C) and Alex Harkey (OT) behind Alt (OT). Tony Jefferson (S) is behind James (S), with RJ Mickens (S) also in the rotation. These are potential lineup paths, not confirmed Sunday assignments.
WANNA takeaway: The Chargers’ offensive injuries are serious, but the Rams are missing major defensive pieces that might otherwise punish them. Meanwhile, the Chargers’ secondary could be vulnerable even without Adams (WR) across the field. This is a lineup-dependent game; a one-sided injury count misses the matchup.
Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos — 4:25 p.m.
Chiefs — Key injuries: Josh Simmons (OT, back) and Tyquan Thornton (WR, ankle) are on IR. Jaylon Moore (OT, concussion) and Rashee Rice (WR, hamstring) are questionable.
Broncos — Key injuries: Pat Surtain (CB, ankle), Talanoa Hufanga (S, ankle), Zach Allen (DT, hamstring) and Jaylen Waddle (WR, chest) are questionable. Pat Bryant (WR, ankle) and Jonah Elliss (LB/edge, ankle) are on IR.
Replacement/depth alert: Kansas City lists Kahlil Benson (LT), with Diego Pounds (OT) behind him, and Joshua Ezeudu (OG/OT) behind Moore (OT) on the right. A Moore (OT) absence would leave a particularly thin tackle situation. Rice’s (WR) availability determines how much receiving help that protection group must support.
WANNA takeaway: If Kansas City is short at tackle and Denver gets Allen (DT) back, the pressure matchup improves for Denver. If Surtain (CB) and Hufanga (S) sit while Rice (WR) plays, Kansas City’s passing outlook improves. The final combination matters much more than the raw injury total.
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins — 4:25 p.m.
Patriots — Key injuries: Mike Onwenu (OG, ankle), Alijah Vera-Tucker (OG, hamstring) and Greg Van Roten (OG, thigh) are on IR. Romeo Doubs (WR, shoulder) and Mack Hollins (WR, calf) are also on IR. Ben Brown (OG, knee) and Carlton Davis (CB, neck) are questionable.
Also banged up: Channing Canada (CB, hamstring) and Karon Prunty (CB, hamstring). Harold Landry (LB/edge) is listed PUP-R.
Dolphins — Key injuries: De’Von Achane (RB, ACL) is on IR. Jaylen Wright (RB, quadriceps) is questionable.
Also banged up: JuJu Brents (CB, concussion), Reese Taylor (CB, quadriceps), Robert Beal (DE, hamstring) and Willie Gay (LB, illness).
Replacement/depth alert: New England’s interior-line losses can affect both the running game and the quarterback’s ability to step up. Miami’s backfield is already missing its explosive centerpiece; Wright’s (RB) uncertainty further limits the rotation.
WANNA takeaway: Both offenses have structural concerns. That can support a lower-scoring outlook, but the cornerback injuries on each side keep the under from being a free square. The Patriots’ available guard combination is the first lineup check.
Sunday Night Football
Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Commanders — 8:20 p.m.
Eagles — Key injuries: Jalen Hurts (QB, calf) is on IR and Lane Johnson (OT, personal) is out. Saquon Barkley (RB, back), DeVonta Smith (WR, hamstring), Dontayvion Wicks (WR, ankle) and Dameon Pierce (RB) are questionable. Tank Bigsby (RB, abdomen) and Will Shipley (RB, foot) are on IR.
Also banged up: Nolan Smith (LB/edge, concussion), Michael Carter (CB, abdomen) and Britain Covey (WR, knee). Jakorian Bennett (CB) is listed IR-R.
Commanders — Key injuries: Terry McLaurin (WR, knee), Laremy Tunsil (OT, triceps), Jacory Croskey-Merritt (RB, groin) and Leo Chenal (LB, neck) are on IR. Javon Kinlaw (DT, knee) is doubtful.
Also banged up: Charles Omenihu (DE, groin) and Marcus Mariota (QB, MCL). Jer’Zhan Newton (DT) is listed IR-R. Mariota (QB) is the backup on the team chart; this listing does not establish an injury to Jayden Daniels (QB).
Replacement/depth alert: Philadelphia lists Tanner McKee (QB), Markel Bell (RT) with Fred Johnson (OT) behind him, and Dameon Pierce (RB) behind Barkley (RB)—but Pierce (RB) is questionable too. Washington lists Brandon Coleman (LT), while Rachaad White (RB) and Austin Ekeler (RB) are alternatives behind Croskey-Merritt (RB). Treylon Burks (WR) is listed behind McLaurin (WR).
WANNA takeaway: Philadelphia’s problem is the cumulative load on McKee (QB): reduced quarterback rushing threat, a missing veteran tackle and uncertainty around several primary weapons. Washington has significant losses too, especially at left tackle. Barkley (RB) and Philadelphia’s receiver availability determine whether the Eagles can sustain drives or become too easy to defend.
Monday Night Football — November 2
Chicago Bears at Seattle Seahawks — 8:15 p.m.
Bears — Key injuries: Braxton Jones (OT, knee), Cole Kmet (TE, knee), Coby Bryant (S, knee) and Dayo Odeyingbo (DE, quadriceps) are on IR. T.J. Edwards (LB, hamstring), Jack Sanborn (LB, concussion) and Kyle Monangai (RB, toe) are questionable.
Also banged up: Malik Muhammad (CB, toe). Jones’s (OT) November 2 estimated return in the file is not confirmation that he will be activated Monday.
Seahawks — Key injuries: Charles Cross (OT, ankle) is doubtful. Zach Charbonnet (RB, ACL), Rashid Shaheed (WR, knee) and Drew Lock (QB, elbow) are questionable. Jadarian Price (RB, chest) and Elijah Arroyo (TE, shoulder) are on IR. Terrion Arnold (CB) is listed Reserve-CEL.
Also banged up: Drake Thomas (LB, ankle), Chazz Surratt (LB, calf), Connor O’Toole (LB, hamstring) and Velus Jones (RB, hamstring).
Replacement/depth alert: Chicago lists Theo Benedet (LT), with Ozzy Trapilo (OT) behind him, and Colston Loveland (TE) atop the tight-end group. Seattle lists Josh Jones (OT) behind Cross (OT), and Emanuel Wilson (RB) ahead of George Holani (RB). Sam Darnold (QB) remains first on Seattle’s published depth chart; Lock’s (QB) listing is a depth concern unless the team announces a different starter.
WANNA takeaway: Seattle’s left-tackle situation is the biggest protection issue, although Chicago’s missing edge depth may soften the damage. Chicago’s linebacker injuries could create opportunities for Seattle’s remaining backs and tight ends. Keep Monday’s final lineup separate from Sunday’s decisions.
Final Checks Before Locking Your WANNA Picks
- Thursday: Green Bay’s final designations, particularly Matthew Golden (WR), plus any Carolina cornerback or offensive-line additions.
- Sunday morning: Lamar Jackson (QB), the Jets’ available running backs, Sauce Gardner (CB), Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR), Aaron Jones (RB) and Emeka Egbuka (WR).
- Sunday afternoon: Joe Alt (OT), Ladd McConkey (WR), Trent McDuffie (CB), Rashee Rice (WR), Jaylon Moore (OT), Pat Surtain (CB), Zach Allen (DT) and Jaylen Waddle (WR).
- Sunday night: Saquon Barkley (RB), DeVonta Smith (WR), Dontayvion Wicks (WR) and Dameon Pierce (RB).
- Monday: Charles Cross (OT), Seattle’s running-back availability and any confirmed activation of Braxton Jones (OT).
Recheck official inactive lists roughly 90 minutes before each kickoff. The biggest Wednesday mistake is treating every question mark as an absence. The second biggest is treating an estimated return date like a boarding pass back onto the field.
