The 7th seed Atlanta Hawks take on the 2nd seed Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference first round series tonight on NBA TV. Boston leads 1-0 after beating Atlanta 112-99 on Saturday. Boston is a 10.5-point favorite and the total is 230. Boston won all three regular season meetings and has won six straight against Atlanta dating back to January 2022. 

GAME 1 RECAP + GAME STORYLINES

The Boston Celtics led Game 1 by 30 points at halftime as Atlanta shot just 1-16 from three in the first half. Atlanta was able to cut the deficit to 12 points early in the fourth quarter before Boston pushed the lead back up to 20 and coasted to a 13-point win. Boston had three players score over 20 points led by Jaylen Brown’s 29 points and 12 rebounds, Jayson Tatum finished with 25 and 11 rebounds and Derrick White had 24 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Dejounte Murray led Atlanta with 24 points, along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Trae Young struggled from the field scoring 16 points on 5 of 18 shooting. 

In an effort to match Atlanta’s speed, Boston started guard Derrick White over Robert Williams in Game 1, the move seemed to pay off as Boston dominated Atlanta from the opening tip. Atlanta’s last win in Boston was on February 17, 2021.
