Week 5 NFL Sports Betting Roundup

Another week of college football and NFL are in the books so it’s time for our Week 5 NFL Sports Betting Roundup from Wannamakeabet.comWhat a week!  There was no shortage of drama in college football this week as Bama barely squeaked by Texas A&M as a 24 point favorite in College and the NFL had plenty of upsets and close calls as both Miami and Jacksonville took a Florida dive as favorites.  Here are the main takeaways from this past week in the NFL as we head toward Week #6.

 Pittsburgh Sucks

There was a Survivor gang bang on the Bills this week but the commish did not get on that train as part of me thought the disrespect of being a 14 point road dog would motivate the (once) mighty Steelers.  But what happened on Sunday in Orchard Park was a downright ass whooping to the tune of 38-3.  Is it time to bet against the Steelers every week now?  Are they this season’s Lions and Jets?  As a Browns fan I just have to say it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy to see them get embarrassed every week.

Chargers and Browns Go Over Every Week

For all you Totals players I hope you’re paying close attention to both of these team’s inability to play defense.  And yet somehow the steam was moving this total down on Sunday as it opened at 48.5 and closed at 46.5.  Why?  Because Myles Garrett was playing??  I would be hammering both of these team’s over every week until either one can prove they can stop anyone from scoring.

Jags Wreck Survivor Pools

It happens every week.  At least 20% of most Survivor pools had the Jags this past week despite recent history telling us they can’t be Houston.   This game wrecked many a teaser and Survivor pool dreams this week as the Texans continue to be feisty despite having one of the weakest rosters in the league.

Vikings by the skin of their ass

Every week the Vikings barely win the game.   Many survivor pools and teasers were sweating this out till the final whistle and that will likely continue this season.  The Vikes do seem to have an inside line on the NFC North now that the Packers stunk it up in London and lost to the Giants.

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS

Are the Jets for real?  Based on the last two weeks they sure seem to be.  Those of us in the NYC area think this is likely a mirage but you cannot deny the fact they are playing good football.  Touchdown Teddy left the game early in the first quarter and some Gen Z kid named Skyler came into the game.  But the Fins never really had a chance on Sunday.  The Jets just outplayed them in every aspect of the game.  And this was another four team teaser wrecking outcome for everyone in every league at WANNA.

Tom Gets The Royal Treatment.  Again.

Tom Brady is going to play until he’s 60.  Him getting sacked, then kicking the player, then begging for a flag and getting it was the most Tom Brady thing that has happened this year.   Survivor players were happy but people who had the Atlanta moneyline must have lost their minds.  This was the beginning of controversial roughing the passer calls this weekend (see below in KC).   And clearly the league is going to have to talk about this during the winter meetings.   Roughing the passer must become reviewable.  Period.  Then they can try and protect Tom and the rest of the QBs all they way.  But right now it’s too subjective.

Super Bowl Hangover

The Rams and Cincy continue to struggle.  But somehow the Rams look a lot worse.  Dallas took them down convincingly as a 5 point dog (and win for the commish) on Sunday and Stafford and company seem to really be missing Odell and any sort of identity on defense despite having Aaron Donald.  We shall see where the rest of the season takes these Rams but things do not look good right now for McVey and Co.

Drama in the Night Caps

Both Sunday and Monday nights were fantastic games this week, which was a nice departure to what we’ve seen thus far this season.  Baltimore and Lamar Jackson got another game winning drive to clinch a win and no cover over Cincy but the real gem was Monday night with the Chiefs/Raiders.  Yet another horrible roughing the passer call on Chris Jones’ graceful but manly strip and slam of Derrick Carr resulted in a second half FILLED with payback calls including a defensive hold on a field goal (which I’ve never seen in my entire life) and Devante Adams juggling and incomplete pass that would have set up a winning field goal that would have also knocked the commish out of the million dollar DraftKings survivor pool.  But Mahomes and the Chiefs and the commish survive and we move on to Week 6.
