NFL Week #3 Predictions

We’re moving on to NFL Week #3 predictions this morning as cooler temperatures start to move into the northeast.  The commish gets to rest easy today after his Browns manhandled the Steelers on Thursday night.  This was a welcome change from the previous years trends.  Let’s move on to the Sunday card as the commish likes a handful of games on the card.  All lines are live lines at Wannamakeabet.com at the time of this posting.

Predictions

Buffalo -4.5 over Miami

The Bills are the hottest team in the NFL and looking like they’re headed back to the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl this year.  Now that could all change by the end of the season due to injuries but right now they look like the team to beat in the AFC.  Miami is off to a hot start after a home win against the Pats and an impressive rally and win against the Ravens last week.   But they have not faced an offense like this in either of those victories.  The Pats can barely score and the Ravens are one dimensional.  But the defense will be the difference in this one.  The Bills rank #1 and Miami is 24th and that will be the difference today as Miami gets lit up in this division battle.

Washington +6.5 over Philly

I’m playing a bit of an emotional angle in this one.  Carson Wentz going against the team who drafted and traded him as the main course and a home dog for dessert.   Carson’s arm is still very live and he has the weapons to hang around in this one right to the end.  Philly clearly has a more dynamic offense and better defense and Jalen Hurts will get his yards running.  But this is a division war against two teams that don’t like each other.  And it just feels like a field goal game when it’s all said and done and the Skins, sorry, commanders or whatever their name is this year, will be there when this one comes down to the final possession.

Green Bay + 1 over Tampa

Tee up the Wong teasers with this one and the Atlanta in the next game.  The Bucs have the best defense in the league and surprisingly, one of the worst offenses.  And that will not be helped today due to injuries and suspensions.  Mike Evans, suspended.  Godwin, out.  Fournette, questionable.  Julio, questionable.  They’ve been struggling with these guys playing, I don’t know how they’re going to score today.  And although the Packers defense has been bottom half of the league, they should not have any problems with this unit today and the Aaron will be able to figure out a way to score 17-24 points, which should be enough to get the job done.

Atlanta + 1 over Seattle

Atlanta has played a brutal opening schedule and have really held their own in the two games against the Saints and last week against the Rams.   Mariotta seems capable of running this offense, which is ranked in the top half of the league at #12.  Meanwhile, Seattle’s defense can’t get off the field as was displayed last week against the 49ers.  I don’t have any confidence in either Geno or Drew Lock and I think we’ll see more of the same this week as the Falcons control this game.  I was concerned that the Falcons would have to travel back from the west coast after they almost beat the Rams last week but they stayed out West and practiced this week.  Which means no travel and no distractions.  Atlanta gets their first win this week against Seattle, who will prove to be one of the worst teams in the league when this season when it’s all said and done.

San Francisco -1.5 over Denver

Denver is horrible.  From the coaching staff decisions to Russell’s decision making and refusing to run anymore, I have no idea what’s going on with this team.  And yet the market continues to overvalue both him and the team in general.  SF has struggled a little bit this season but that’s mainly been due to them trying to force Trey Lance into the offense.  But now he’s done for the season due to injury.  Meanwhile, there are many (including me) who feel that Jimmy G is more than capable of running this offense and is a better short term solution than Trey.    SF should be laying at least a field goal in this game and only laying 1.5 is a gift.
