2022 NFL Week 2 Predictions

Welcome back to our 22nd season on the internet here at Wannamakeabet.com.  We skipped the first week of the season as we always do but now we have enough feeling and data to start our season off with a bang.  Our 2022 NFL week 2 predictions are locked and loaded.  So let’s get started.

Miami Dolphins + 3.5 over Baltimore Ravens

The Dolphins appear to be a top 3rd of the league team for this 2022 season.  There are matchup advantages galore in this one.  Baltimore lost another tackle in the loss to the Jets.  Lamar seems reluctant to run as much as he could be this year and that’s likely tied to the uncertainty behind his contract.  The Miami defense is set up so well to force Baltimore into doing things they don’t want to do and actually can’t do given the lack of offensive weapons on the field.  Meanwhile, Miami has weapons on offense, including someone named Tyreek Hill.  After the New England win I was expecting to see this posted on Sunday night as a 2 or 2.5 and the opener at 4 was a gift.  But here we are at 3.5 and I’m still buying.   Tua is a bit of a wild card as always so fingers crossed that he doesn’t blow this for me.

Colts -4 over Jaguars

The Jags defense is awful.  I knew this was true on paper but saw it last week when they couldn’t get off the field against the Commanders.  Meanwhile, the Colts are under valued here after struggling, again, in their opener last week against Houston.   They easily should have put up 30 points but struggled to eek out the tie.  The Jags offense is decent, but Trevor will continue to make mistakes when it matters, and possibly even more often against this better than average Colt D.  I’m watching this Michael Pittman injury very closely for Indy but if he goes then I’m in on the Colts +4.

Browns – 6.5 over Jets

The Jets are bad.  Again.  Putting up 3 last week against the Ravens is just a sign of things to come until Zach is healthy.   Meanwhile, the Jets are sadly going to let Flacco go back out there because if they start Mike White and he does well, the team may start to believe he’s the guy.  Flacco was running for his life last week against Baltimore, just wait until he sees the Browns front 4 coming at him this week in the home opener in Cleveland.   The Jacoby Brissett playbook is pretty simple.  Just hand it off and throw short stuff over the middle to your tight ends and don’t blow the game.  He did that well last week.  Get this before it goes to 7 or higher.

Tampa Bay -2.5 over Saints

I’m watching a few injuries closely in this game but if this defense can shut down Dallas like they did last week can you imagine what they’re going to do to New Orleans?  Julio Jones is a real threat again.  So if Lattimore is shadowing a hobbled Mike Evans the whole game, fine.  Meanwhile, the Saints have some injury issues of their own, they had 11 players out of practice on Thursday, including Kamara, Ingram, and even Jameis.   I’m not looking too much into this, just happy I’m laying less than a FG with the GOAT, solid defense and some hobbled players.

New England -2.5  over Pittsburgh

Bellichick lost a tough one in Miami last week and that’s a tough game even on a good year.  This is a simple handicap that says he won’t go 0-2 and helped by the fact that Pittsburgh’s anemic offense won’t be able to do much against this Patriot D.  And not that I give out totals but this one is a dead under.
