Another wild weekend of the NFL is in the books. This past Sunday had no shortage of drama. At the top of the NFL look back list was my beloved Browns getting their second win of the season on a duck that sailed through the uprights in overtime to beat the Ravens. That got us off on the right foot for our predictions from last Friday. Here’s a quick look back at all the big NFL games from this past weekend and how it affected the biggest sports bets at Wannamakeabet.com.
The Patriots. The Pats started the week off in style by laying the hammer to the Colts. The line closed at 10.5 and the Books was begging you to take the points but it didn’t matter. The Pats were never in doubt and the Colts were able to backdoor the teaser late in the second half by only losing by 14, 38-24. Pats host the hot Chiefs this Sunday night.
Tennessee Titans. The new NFL darling Titans were not able to continue their winning ways. They lost to the Bills on the road and removed many people from Survivor pools. I guess the Titans have to be playing one of the best teams in the league to look good. They will host the Ravens this week.
The Giant Blues. The New York football Giants had the most heartbreaking loss of the weekend. They had the game in hand and scored with 1:30 left in the game to take the lead against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. They even played great defense on the game winning drive. But the Panthers kicked a 63 yard field goal with no time on the clock to win the game. The Giants got the cover but the outright win on the moneyline slipped out of their hands. Giants host the Eagles on Thursday night and a short week.
Lions Roar. Detroit beat up on Aaron Rogers and the Packers in a hard fought NFC North battle. The Packers kicker Mason Crosby missed 4 field goals and an extra point. The Browns don’t feel so bad about their kicker in the Saints game after seeing that performance. The Lions have a bye this week.
Chiefs stay unbeaten. The KC Chiefs extended their undefeated streak and are now 5-0 after taking Jacksonville to the woodshed and wrecking every single Jacksonville bet on the board. Blake Bortles looked absolutely awful and had anyone who bet on the Jags regretting they backed him in such an important game.
The Cards. Finally. Won. Arizona got off the losing train and finally got their first win of the season as they went up to San Francisco and won the game 28-18. The 49ers continue to look really bad without Jimmy G and will have to figure something out before the head to Green Bay next Monday night.
The Vikings got a much needed win on the road and handed the Eagles their second loss in as many weeks 33-31. The Super Bowl hangover continues for the Eagles as they have not really found themselves yet despite the return of Carson Wentz. Vikes host Arizona this week, and that will likely draw a lot of Survivor picks. Be careful.
The Record. The feel good story of the week came to us last night from New Orleans. Drew Brees became the all time leading passer in the NFL, surpassing Peyton Manning. Brees lit up the Redskins 43-19 and broke the record by halftime of the game. The league gave him some laminated piece of paper along with the game ball, which was werid, but it was great to see Drew get a little choked up when he hugged his family, coaches and fellow players. The Saints get a bye this week for it to sink in for Drew.
