NFL Playoffs Preview: AFC and NFC Predictions

Is everyone ready for the NFL Playoffs?  Many think this is the most exciting weekend of the NFL season, and we happen to agree.   If for no other reason than there are four great games to watch and the best teams of the year will certainly be on the field.  So let’s dive into the four big matchups from the AFC and NFC this Saturday and Sunday.

Atlanta Falcons (- 3 ) versus Philadelphia Eagles

A home underdog in the NFL Playoffs.  Need we say more?  Nobody believes the Eagles can win this game without Carson Wentz.  Except me.  I think Nick Foles is perfectly capable of executing a game plan and taking care of the ball.  I just don’t think that Foles is worth a full 7-9 points, which seems to be the way the line is reflected.

The Pick: Eagles +3

Tennessee Titans (+13.5) versus New England Patriots

It takes balls of steel to go against the Patriots at home in the playoffs and rarely does it work out in your favor.  Despite the fact that this is a huge number to cover for the Pats, I think it will happen.  The Titans fell behind 21-3 to the Chiefs last week and should have been blown out but KC simply couldn’t continue to execute in the 2nd half.  The Pats will absolutely be able to step on the gas and keep the pedal down.  Lay the wood with New England and start chopping

The Pick: New England -13.5

Jacksonville (+7) versus Pittsburgh

Is the first game between these two teams a forecast for the 2nd?  Perhaps, but it’s not likely.  The Steelers are not a good favorite and they tend to win many of their games by just a field goal.  We think the same will happen again on Sunday.  It seems like the whole country will be betting on Pittsburgh, and that’s not a good thing.  Take the points and root for what likely will be a game that comes down to the Steelers winning by a late field goal.

The Pick: Pittsburgh – 7

New Orleans Saints (+5) versus Minnesota Vikings

Playoff experience is everything.  That’s why the Saints are going to win this game.  Last week showed both the defense and offense clicking on all cylinders and we’ll see more of the same this week in Minnesota.  The Vikings are not as good as their record which was set up by a weak division and a week schedule.  Saints get back to the NFC Championship game next week.

The Pick: Saints + 5
