Podcast Picks – Hosts Jack and Cello are off to a slow start this season last week going 2-3 again and bringing the early season record to 5-10 (33%). Listen on Spotify or Apple If you’re fading or following, here’s who we’re backing this week. All lines are from WANNA at the time of this newsletter.
Indy Colts -4.5 over Washington Commanders
The Colts seemed to have turned a corner the past two weeks and have nice trajectory. And let’s just say the Chiefs and Texans defense are a lot tougher than what they’re going to face today in London. Meanwhile, not only is JD still on the bench but WR1 McLauren strained his hammy Friday and will miss this game putting the offense in a much tougher and predictable game state. Lay the points with your tea and crumpets.
New England Patriots +7 over Buffalo Bills
Let’s start with the obvious: Drake Maye isn’t playing well. But considering his total body of work, we’re willing to give him a pass on the early season high turnover rate and think he’ll regress toward the mean. Today, we have value against a division rival that proved vulnerable last week and should have lost had the Chargers not thrown up all over themselves. We think the Pats hang around till the end today and scare Buffalo or get the win.
LV Raiders +4.5 over Kansas City Chiefs
Klint Kubiac has these Raiders at 3-0 as they are set to host the hated Chiefs this afternoon in Vegas. And Kirk Cousins is on a nice run of his own and a healthy Brock Bowers helps matters even more. Lots of travel for the Chiefs as they were in Miami last week and Mahomes and his bad knee might just not be getting those friendly calls this afternoon.
LA Chargers +7.5 over Seattle Seahawks
The vaunted Hawks defense was showing some cracks last week and even Darnold didn’t look great despite the solid fantasy day. And even though you seeing us take the Chargers AGAIN (which has already cost us two losses this season and reminds us of that guy in the movie Porkys who kept returning to the bar) we’re getting a full 3 points of value against the look-a-head line here and can’t resist getting more than a TD from a team with a pretty weak pass rush and overall defense.
New Orleans Saints -2.5 over Atlanta Falcons
We’re playing into the emotional angle of the importance of this night for the city of New Orleans in remembering and celebrating their resiliance on the anniversary of Katrina. We’re also thinking we see “bad” Penix on Monday and not the one who lit up the Bears last week. Kellen Moore and Shough / Olave should have plenty of opportunities in this one and even though the defense is not great, we think they’ll be able to do just enough to get the W here.
Jack and Josh!
