Podcast Picks
The 2024 Podcast season is off and running as hosts Jack and Cello preview each week and do a recap. Click here to listen to this week’s Podcast. The pod is available on all listening platforms including Spotify, Apple, and Amazon. As for our picks, last week we got back to our winning ways and went 4-1 ATS. Our season recrod is 8-7 (53.55%). Listen to the pod for the deep dive on every game (and go directly to the game you’re interested in if you want-check the show notes). Here’s a summary of our top 5 for this Sunday. All lines are from Wannamakeabet.com at the time of this newsletter.
Houston Texans -5.5 over Jacksonville Jags
The Jags are reeling and can’t seem to get any traction with any part of their team and coach Peterson may be on the verge of losing the locker room and his job. The market believes the Jags have value here based on historical performance and a division game but we don’t see it that way. Big bounce back for Houston this week as Trevor and the offense continue to struggle against this very tough defense.
Tampa Bay Bucs +1.5 over Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are going to look like last year’s Giants today when they take the field as Saquan of a one dimensional offense without AJ and DeVonta. The Tampa offense is healthy and Baker should have time to deal while Todd Bowles licks his chops and goes blitz heavy as he always does. Great spot for Tampa today as they shake off the loss to Denver with a solid effort and a win against the 25th ranked defense in Philly.
Arizona Cards -3.5 over Washington Commanders
Second straight roadie for Jayden here but this is where the party ends and he comes back down to earth as the Arizona defense is not nearly as bad (23rd) as their preseason ranking and they were even able to keep a lid on Detroit last week despite losing the game. Meanwhile, Washington is dead last in defense it’s no wonder they refuse to ever punt. This just means Kyler is going run rampant over them and should be scoring often the way he did against the Rams. Daniels will keep them in it for a while but Zona eventually makes it a two score game and gets the win.
Baltimore Ravens -2.5 over Buffalo Bills
The Bills have had a cupcake schedule so far this year so it’s no surprise people are talking MVP for Josh again. Tonight they play their first real defense of the season and we see this exposing Josh’s bad tendencies as well as a receiver corps that is not tier 1. Lamar will remind everyone why he’s the reigning MVP with his legs as he always does while also exposing this defense over the middle which is where they are soft based on their injuries. Ravens get the win on national TV.
Seattle Seahawks +3.5 over Detroit Lions
Riding with the dog on Monday night for our final pick of the week as Seattle is quietly becoming a very solid team in the NFC (we have them ranked 3rd overall) under new head coach Mike MacDonald. They have remade themselves as a very tough defensive team that matches up well against Detroit here. The long term trends support Seattle as well, they haven’t lost to Detroit in the last five matchups. Ken Walker returns to the lineup just to ice the cake as Seattle keeps this close or perhaps gets the outright win.
Good luck with your selections
Jack and Josh!
