Podcast Picks – We’re still HOT!
Podcast hosts Jack and Cello posted a 3-2 record last week and the Thanksgiving Pod is live with some hilarious stories as always. That brings the season record to 34-21 (62%). Here’s our top five from this week’s card including the Turkey day games. All lines are current from Wannamakeabet.com at the as time of this email.
- Detroit Lions -7.5 over Green Bay Packers
- The Lions on Thanksgiving. Is there anything more American or better to root for? Fresh off a wild game against the Bears that kept me in my Survivor pool, the Lions face a Packers team that we have ranked 21st in the league that includes a rush defense ranked 28th. The Lions leading rushing attack will pound the ball all day long against this division rival. Jordan Love is getting better but primarily a second half QB according to the data. And by the time the second half rolls around in this one it will be too late.
- San Francisco 49ers -7.5 over Seattle Seahawks
- The Seahawks can’t seem to find their footing on defense or get a meaningful pass rush. They also are totally undisciplined. Geno Smith is also banged up with his throwing elbow. That doesn’t bode well if Boza and Young are coming at you and we’re feeling like Drew Lock may come into this one before it’s over. Spotlight game for the 49ers to remind the country they have elite status in this league and are ready for their stretch run to the playoffs.
- Jacksonville Jags -1.5 over Houston Texans
- Big revenge spot for the Jags here as they were shocked and unprepared for the early season loss to these Texans. The Jags reminded us last week against the Titans who the boss is in the division and Sunday they’ll remind the Texans as well. We still think the young Buckeye Stroud may find his way to the playoffs this year but this week is all about Trevor and a complete game by the Jags.
- LA Rams -1 over Arizona Cardinals
- The Cards got us the cover last week against the Texans and this week they host the division rival Rams who have absolutely owned them under coach McVay. We’re hoping we get favorable news on Kupp and Nakua as they are needed here but laying the short number with the Rams is too hard to pass up. Kyler Murray tends to try and do too much in high leverage spots like this and that leads to turnovers and losses.
- Minnesota Vikings -3 over Chicago Bears
- Josh Dobbs is charmed. Justin Fields is not. Despite the huge gap in talent skewed towards Fields, he tends to lose games while Dobbs wins them. Now it doesn’t help that the o-line has given up 32 sacks this season but Fields’ decision making is poor and perhaps reaches an absolute low point at the end of games. The Vikes seem to be winning close games again this year, and Monday night will be no different.

Enjoy that Turkey!
