Yankees vs Astros Game 2
We split yesterday’s action 1-1 losing the total in the Braves game but cashing our Astros -1.5 at +115. Now we move to Game 2.
The Yankees will send out Luis Severino who missed a good chuck of the season due to injury. Since coming back he has pitched pretty well. He made an appearance in the ALDS vs Cleveland and went almost 6 innings allowing 3 runs and striking out 6 while walking 0. Severino has faced these Astros hitters throughout his career and while the sample size only goes to about 20 at bats per player some have had some success off him. The Astros will send out the ground ball king in Framber Valdez. He made one appearance in the ALDS going almost 6 innings allowing 2 runs and striking out 6. He hasn’t faced these Yankees hitters much in his career and in the small sample size few have had success.
I am taking a similar approach to this game and will be taking the Astros -140 on the ML. Framber is a perfect matchup against the Yankees. What do the Yankees thrive on? Hitting Home runs. What is Framber good at? Keeping the ball in the park. He has the second lowest HR/9 this year in all of baseball. If he has his on his A game he should cause fits for this lineup making them put the ball in play and string hits together. Something that the Yankees have struggled with this year. For the Astros offense, I don’t think they will light up Severino but they were able to shake some rust off last night and had a lot of hard hit balls that were caught. You could tell towards the end of the game the Astros were starting to get their swagger back. The best hitters on the Astros (Altuve, Bregman, Yordan & Tucker) all didn’t even record a hit and they still won. I look for them to grind out another win today.
The Pick: Astros ML -140
