Guardians / Yankees Game 2 Prediction

Here’s my Game 2 Guardians / Yankees prediction.  While the Yankees had a distinct pitching advantage in game 1. It will be flipped tonight with the Ace of the Guardians Shane Bieber taking the mound to face off against Nestor Cortes. The Yankees have struggled against good pitching this year. They have lacked the ability to string together hits and have relied too much on the long ball at times. Bieber has been among the better pitchers at keeping the ball in the park this year and he will especially need that tonight.

Nasty Nestor will take the mound for the Yankees tonight and he has had a breakout season posting a 2.44 ERA over 158 innings of work. Nestor relies on being able to keep hitters off balance posting a 9.2 K/9 this season. We will see how that plays out tonight against one of the best contact teams in baseball.

Prediction

If the Guardians are going to steal a game against the Yankees, I think tonight is the night. They have their Ace on the mound who is coming off a great Wild Card game performance. As we mentioned above the Yankees have shown this year that they struggle to get hits off of elite pitching. If Bieber keeps his form from last time out, he will be exiting this start allowing 2 or fewer runs. The Cleveland offense has the lowest strikeout percentage as a team, and I think that will limit Nestor’s greatest strengths as a pitcher. We saw it against Cole the Guardians are pesky at the plate fouling off tough pitches and putting the ball in play. I think they will be able to get a few runs off of Nestor. It’s never easy going against the Yankees at home in the playoffs, but we will take the better pitcher and the plus price with the Guardians ML +125.  Cleveland Guardians ML +125
