We’ve got a College Basketball free pick for all our customers today. Northern Illinois started MAC Conference play at a disappointing 2-3. The Huskies followed that up with five straight wins to announce their intention to make a regular season title run.
They started off the streak with a big 76-69 win at Kent State led by a massive +17 edge (+6 offensive rebounds) on the glass. Tonight, we have round two of that matchup and for some reason, the Golden Flashes are favored on the road.

Kent State is a solid MAC team, sitting at 6-4 in the conference. They have an experienced team with a good coach. But what they don’t have is Eugene German who of late has been on fire. The senior is already NIU’s all-time leading scorer and is on a mission to carry this team to a division title. He has two substantial senior posts helping him out in Lacey James and Noah McCarty along with an abundance of guards who are excellent defenders.
But make no mistake about it, this is German’s team. I’ve yet to see a MAC team that has a defender who can stop German from getting to the basket. Look for NIU to take one step closer to a MAC East title with an outright win as short home dogs.
