Oklahoma / Texas
Marquis game of the week. Sooners currently a 10.5 point chalk. And here we are with the biggest game of the weekend in terms of ranked teams playing each other. Texas has a way of stepping up in big games, don’t they? They went toe to toe with LSU already this year. On the other side, Oklahoma has been rolling over teams, albeit much lesser tier. So this appears to be the first real test for Oklahoma. Houston scored 31 against these guys. And even Kansas averaged 6 yards per play. There should be a lot of points in this one but at 76 it’s getting a bit rich. I do like Texas in this game. Pretty sure they can stick around in this game and either win or at least get inside the number.
Washington State – Arizona State under 60
Washington State coming off back to back losses and a bye. How will they do this week? ASU not a high powered offense but a surprising 4-1. Everyone is focused on the defenses in this matchup. You can make a case for the under in this game as WSU is going to be playing for their season. And they are perhaps a team that is falling apart at the seams and if nothing else, have their defense wits about them for this one. We are seeing just how special Minshew was while he was behind center here as this offense is really struggling without him. And with a number as high as 60, I think it stays under.
Ole Miss @ Missouri over 56
Missouri is shaping up as a top 10 defense in the country. That said MLB Garrett is out of the season and he’s the best defensive player on the team. And the Rebels love to run the ball. In addition, they have looked very good on offense the past three weeks and that’s playing Cal and Alabama. Mizzou has not exactly played great teams thus far, and has basically been rolling over folks. And Bama put up 59 on these guys. Playing over the total of 56 seems to be the play here.
Texas Tech @ Baylor
Baylor, the hottest team in the big 12 south, but how good are they? They’re laying 11.5 to a capable Tech team and the total is a reasonable 58. Baylor has jumped up in the power rankings. They closed as one point favorite over Kansas State. That said, Tech lost their starting QB and struggled without him against Oklahoma. They seemed to right the ship last week against Ok State. Baylor has looked great thus far but they by no means should be laying this kind of number and seem to me to be clearly overvalued here. I think Tech can get inside this number and even win this game.
Indiana -27.5 over Rutgers
The doormat in the big 10 is going to roll into Bloomington on Saturday without their star running back. That’s because he decided to red shirt after four games, which shockingly goes according to NCAA rules. This must have shattered the locker room and I think Indiana will light these guys up just like the rest of the league has been doing. If you wanna feel good about yourself in this conference, get ready for the Rutgers game.
Michigan State +10.5 over Wisconsin
Tough spot for MSU after the Buckeye loss and having to go on the road again. And it doesn’t get any easier. That said, I think they’ll be playing for their season on Saturday and we’ll find out just how good Wisconsin is against a high quality defense. This game will be close, close enough for Sparty to stay inside the number.
