Bad Beat in KC, DC and Baltimore: Tuesday Morning NFL QB

Here’s a quick recap of this past weekend in the NFL.  There was a really bad beat in the KC/Cincy game on the total.  We’ll get to that in a minute.  According to our sources this was the first weekend that the books really took a pounding, which is interesting considering we did not see that at Wannamakeabet.com. Our Tuesday morning NFL QB will take a quick look at all the key games.  We’ll also provide some insights as we head to week 8 of the NFL season.

The week started off in Arizona with our first pounding.  Denver’s Vonn Miller said before the game that the Broncos were going down to Arizona to kick their ass and that’s exactly what they did.  Broncos won 45-10 as the Cards continued their downward spiral.

Anyone who bet on the Titans was happy that the game didn’t go to overtime in London.  This was due to the decision by coach Mike Vrabel to go for 2 after a game tying touchdown.  This was the first of two analytics based decisions this weekend to go for two at the end of regulation instead of tying the game.  Apparently you increase your chances of winning the game by 50% if you go for 2 in that situation.  All the anti-data commentary was flying as it did not appear to make sense.  But numbers don’t lie.   And they didn’t get the 2 point conversion either way and lost the game but covered the 6.

The Buffalo Bills didn’t have a quarterback this week, and so the Colts became one of the most popular picks in all pick pools, sports bets, leagues at Wannamakeabet.com and Survivor pools.  They delivered the win with ease, 37-5.

Blake Bortles was benched in a horrible home loss to the Houston Texans.  Many have suspected for a long time that Bortles is not the answer for this team.  He may have begun his official demise as the starter Sunday as they were beaten badly by the Texans, 20-7 in one of many games this weekend that stayed Under.

The Cowboys were assessed a snap infraction penalty of 5 yards with no time on the clock as they were lining up a game tying field goal from 47 yards away.  That made the kick a 52 yarder.  Seconds later, the FGA was sailing toward the upright and hit the crossbar and did not go in.  You want a bad beat?  There you go.

The Eagles had a complete meltdown in the 4th quarter against the Carolina Panthers.  This was the team they beat in last year’s NFC championship game so there was plenty of revenge on the mind of the Panthers.  Philly had a 17-0 lead with 10 minutes left and then Cam Newton and the Panthers turned it on and flipped the momentum.  The Eagles defense looked horrific in the 4th quarter as they let up 21 unanswered points and lost the game 21-17.  This had to be the second worst bad beat of the weekend as an easy cover vanished into thin air with 10 minutes left in the game.

Justin Tucker, the Baltimore Ravens kicker, missed an extra point that would have sent the Ravens/Saints game into overtime.  It was the first extra point that he missed in his entire career.   Saints went on to win the game 24-23.  That also got the Saints the cover as they were getting 2 points as the closing line at most books.  You wanna talk about a sharp line?

It was the worst bad beat of the weekend.  The unstoppable offense of the Kansas City Chiefs came to a screeching halt in the 4th quarter Sunday.  Over bettors just need 56 points.  The score was 45-10 late in the game.  The Chiefs had the ball inside the 12 yard line 4 times in the 4th quarter and not only didn’t score a TD, they also did not kick a field goal, opting instead to go for it on 4th down.  Over bettors from Vegas to New Jersey were beside themselves as the Under came in.

That’s gambling as we say, there could not be a more perfect example of a bad beat than that KC/Cincy under.  We’re looking forward to another week as we approach the midway point of the NFL season.  Good luck with your selections.
