NFL Week 12 Opening Lines
Thanksgiving week is upon us and for you saps still stranded in a cubicle- here is a tasty preview to the week of NFL betting. Let us be thankful for some of these generous opening lines and pray that our betting week does not turn into a metaphorical butt fumble:
Favorite team to COVER their spread
Dallas to COVER +1 versus L.A. Chargers
This line is a bit of a head-scratcher and makes you wonder whether Jerry Jones has involved himself in more sketchy business in Big D. Sure, L.A. is coming off of a monster win against Buffalo. That said, blame it on the worst coaching decision of the NFL season thus-far: The Bills switching their QB to a signal-caller who shall not be named. The Cowboys have around a .600 win percentage on Thanksgiving.
OVER of the week
Carolina at N.Y. Jets OVER 40
Without a doubt, McCown has been a pleasant surprise for Jets fans that were borderline-depressed heading into the NFL season. Although not perfect, he was able to lead the team to 23 points against the best defense in the league, Sacksonville, and more recently 34 points on a short week against Buffalo. With Carolina’s offense starting to gel, the Jets will likely only have to put up 15-20 points for this over to hit.
Nobody Bets the UNDER
Green Bay at Pittsburgh UNDER 41
To be candid, Brett Hundley is who we thought he was: a QB who doesn’t deserve to have the first name Brett while wearing Packer green. Green Bay scored zero points against the second-rated Baltimore pass defense. The Steeler’s have the next-best pass defense at third in the league. Although the Steeler offense will likely flourish, let’s bet on Hundley not playing much better on the road this week.
Easy Money(line)
TENNESSE (-170) at INDIANAPOLIS
Value-wise, this is the best money-line bet of the weekend. Both teams are coming off of long(er) weeks off, and the Colts have just two home wins this year: against the Browns and the 49ers, by a combined 6 points. The Titans already took care of the Colts in Tennessee and will look to complete the season sweep this weekend to stay in the playoff hunt.
